DesignFirms Announces Reviews for Designers

October 26, 2007; 05:23 AM

(PRWEB) October 25, 2007 -- The long awaited need for designer reviews has become a reality with DesignFirms. By allowing customers to read reviews on designers before they hire them, they can be assured that they are making the right decision.

Design is a skill, a talent and simply a way of life for some. For others, they dab around and claim to provide professional quality services, but do they really? In today's industry, design companies have a better chance at getting struck by lightning than receiving a paying job where they can actually make money. This is due to the multitude of non-professionals that give designers a bad name. These people don't answer the phone or provide the promised end result to the customer. Another downside is that they low-ball pricing just to get the job and never provide the end result. This concerns customers about spending their money and they become hesitant to buy design services from a new firm.

"I see it everyday", said Scott Seiter, operations manager at DesignFirms. "Paying advertisers come to me asking how they can compete and I cannot give an answer. I feel it is the duty of DesignFirms to exterminate these perpetrators and award jobs to trustworthy firms for the sake of the customer."

Google "design firm" and view the more than 80,000,000 results it produces. This is an example of the mass competition that real professionals deal with day to day. Go through the list and call as many as you can. You will see that the majority of firms lack basic business fundamentals such as answering the telephone or putting up a phone number in general.

When it comes to pricing, real professionals understand that smaller sized businesses cannot afford a small business website at large business prices. At the same time, businesses of all types must understand that when paying for a website or company logo, you get what you pay for. When you see an offering for a $200 website, chances are you will be receiving the lowest quality service possible. This is not your fault. It is the job of the designer to tell you this. Even more, most businesses looking for design services do not comprehend where to begin on such a great journey much less how much it should cost. Visit a design project site and you will find that some designers charge $500 for a project that should normally cost $50,000. This is unacceptable.

It's time for a change. It's time to be professional once again. It's time to help out the customer instead of making a quick buck. Join us in changing the design industry. Tell your designer to submit their company to our directory and then submit a review about them. This will help businesses that are considering on hiring a designer to avoid problems in the future. If we can accomplish this, companies of all sizes may have a resource to help end the nightmare that true professionals will gladly turn into a dream - for a price.
