Popular Anti-Keylogging Software Now Also Protects Outlook and Microsoft Office

August 8, 2007; 03:16 AM
QFX Software Corporation is pleased to announce the release of a new product in the popular KeyScrambler® series, KeyScrambler Premium, which extends protection against keyloggers beyond the browser to Outlook and Microsoft Office.

"We can't overstress the importance of having effective tools in the war against online theft," says Qian Wang, CEO and founder of QFX Software, referring to the fact that the number of keyloggers--malicious software code that tracks typing activity to capture passwords and other private information--has increased by 250 percent between January 2004 and May 2006, as reported in a recent McAfee study. "The latest trend is that more sophisticated morphing malware has been developed and used to target businesses, corporate executives, government financial officials, and even their relatives," Mr. Wang observes. "KeyScrambler Premium is our endeavor to protect more businesses from keyloggers."

KeyScrambler Premium protects all parts of the browser: URLs, search terms, popup password dialogs, and master passwords. It encrypts everything a user types into a web page--logins, account numbers, credit card numbers, addresses and phone numbers, and email messages. It also protects the user input beyond the browser in Outlook--the most widely used business email program--and in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It safeguards online input without requiring any change in the user's computing behavior or to a company's existing infrastructure.

KeyScrambler technology works against both known and unknown keyloggers. Traditional anti-spyware and anti-virus programs typically depend on knowing the signature of an existing keylogger in order to detect and remove it, so they often act only after the keyloggers have already stolen the users' information. KeyScrambler works in a radically different way: it encrypts the user's keystrokes at the kernel driver level, before keyloggers can record them, and decrypts them within the browser itself, giving keyloggers only indecipherable, encrypted keys to record.

Planning to reach more businesses with the new product, QFX Software has begun to forge global affiliate relationships. It is currently working with the Toronto-based Informatica Security Corporation for corporate sales in Canada. A leader in information security management, Informatica is actively encouraging corporate management in the financial/banking, healthcare and services sectors to supplement their existing anti-malware strategy with the KeyScrambler solution.

Besides KeyScrambler Premium, the KeyScrambler series includes KeyScrambler Professional, which protects all parts of the browser against keyloggers, and KeyScrambler Personal, which protects users' login information against keyloggers on all websites and is absolutely free. All three products can be downloaded or purchased from the company's website: http://www.qfxsoftware.com
