FreshNotes, LLC has launched the FreshNotes Content Recommendation system, which provides online publishers with a simple, cost-effective technology to increase reader satisfaction. July 19, 2007; 02:46 AM The
service allows web-based publications easy access to relevant, related
content from within one or more of the publishers’ sites. This cutting
edge web service is aimed at increasing page views, by keeping readers
focused on interrelated content within the publishers’ site or across
domains. By providing access to existing resources and materials, the
service allows online publishers to strengthen their online presence
and increase advertising revenue while building brand loyalty resulting
in higher traffic returns. The technology leveraged by the system
utilizes entity recognition, relationship mapping, and realtime
document integration and delivery, to identify entities on a sites
pages and extracting the relationships of those entities based on the
site content. The patent-pending associative search system is easy to
implement and just requires placing a small line of JavaScript into the
sites page template. The system will work with any content management
system on any platform.
According to the Newspaper Association of America, the audience for
newspaper web sites is growing at nearly twice the rate of the overall
online audience. “The fact that the newspaper Web site audience is
growing at almost double the rate of the Internet audience as a whole
validates the industry’s investment in digital innovation, and the
ongoing attraction consumers have to newspapers online,” said NAA
President and CEO John F. Sturm. “Newspaper publishers have
aggressively transformed their business models, continually providing
ground-breaking content to consumers with their expanding digital
portfolios.” (Newspaper Association of America, 2007)
While the overall website audience for newspapers has grown, these
sites must compete with viewers who are still primarily utilizing
search engines such as Google™ and Yahoo!® to perform research and find
information on topics of interest while surfing the web. By utilizing
the FreshNotes system, news sites can offer a quick, convenient
alternative to readers in search of related content. Maintaining
readers interest promises to keep reader on their sites longer and keep
them coming back on a recurrent basis. Most news sites can be up and
running with FreshNotes within a week or two for an average cost of
between $100.00-$1000.00 per month depending on the number of page
views a site receives each month.
Freshnotes CEO John Colier, further explains the benefits of utilizing
this service, “A website visitor reveals quite a bit about his or her
desires by choosing to visit a specific webpage. We help publishers use
this information to give their users more of what they want. We’re
enabling a broad group of publishers to quickly and affordably drive
site visitors to content they want.”
The FreshNotes system is not just for traditional news sites either.
“The world’s largest jazz music website”, Allaboutjazz.com has just
started using the FreshNotes system to provide links to related content
in both their articles and reviews sections. “This has been something I
have wanted to do for a long time. I simply haven’t had the technology”
said AAJ Founder and publisher Michael Ricci.
