ServerPlex Networks ‘Goes Green’ with Onsite division, Aims to Protect Environment

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (July 10, 2007)— ServerPlex Networks (http://www.serverplex.com), a Bay area Information Technology solutions firm, announced today its intention to better protect the environment by replacing its entire fleet of ServerPlex Onsite vehicles with new, more fuel efficient alternatives.

Currently, the company maintains a fleet of 23 Mini Coopers, each averaging approximately 25 miles per gallon of gasoline in city driving. By replacing the entire fleet with Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles, ServerPlex Onsite hopes to average approximately 50 miles per gallon, thereby reducing its fuel usage by about half annually.

“San Francisco continues to lead the nation with its aggressive environmental protection and energy independence initiatives. As a company that strives to best serve the residents of our community, we feel an obligation to do everything we can to protect our environment and support these utterly important ambitions,” said Robert Marhamat, ServerPlex Networks Business Development Manager. “We view this not only a matter of corporate responsibility, but also a case of moral and ethical accountability.”

The transition will cost the company about $250,000 over the course of a year. Once the new vehicles are fully implemented, ServerPlex Onsite anticipates significant savings in fuel costs.

In addition to the new vehicles, the company will also reduce its energy use by converting its paper files to electronic versions through document imaging technology. With the conversion, the company expects to use about half of the paper it is currently using.

“Although ServerPlex Networks, in a global view, is merely a small part of the energy dependence crisis, today’s announcement is a testament to the impact that one organization can have. By implementing the changes we have announced today, we will save tens of thousands of gallons of gasoline and thousands of pounds of paper products each year,” said Marhamat. “We can only hope more responsible organizations will follow suit. This is more than just good business.”
