Sobha Renaissance Introduces LMai(TM) - Algorithm to Embed Artificial Intelligence Into Search Engines

A Revolutionary Algorithm Enabling Unprecedented Advance Machine Learning Capabilities

May 8, 2007; 05:19 AM

Sobha Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) today announced a revolutionary 'Artificial Intelligence' technology for immediate application in deriving context based internet search results. Coined as Latent Metonymical Analysis and Indexing (LMai(TM)) this algorithm uses mathematical techniques in the realm of unsupervised or advance machine learning to derive results no other contemporary technology has been able to achieve till date.

Search engines are today based on 'Keyword' searches, and assume a user to be familiar with the terminologies of the search and therefore using various optimization rules throw up pages, which are directly related to the typed keyword only. For example, if a user were to type an 'X' brand of motorcycle, it would throw up pages which were directly related to the keyword. LMai on the other hand would also give contextual results like Motorcycle Engines, Engines, Safety while riding, Helmets and so on. LMai defines contextual relationships automatically without any set of training data enabling a machine or a system to act like an expert.

LMai is set to power the next generation of internet search experience where the search engine, besides searching for the keywords, would help in defining the very keyword(s) for the search.

Syed Yasin a R&D Project Lead at SRIT who spearheaded the program said, "An analogy or likely algorithms that work based on unsupervised machine learning like LMai are 'LSA/LSI/PLSA/PLSI'. They are developed by scientists from renowned universities in US and work on Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) Techniques. LMai works on a novel term decomposition technique that enables the algorithm to extract contextually related terms without any guidance and hence is filed for an international patent. If one were to compare the results thrown up by all these contemporary techniques with the one given by LMai, the superiority of LMai's algorithm becomes very clearly evident to any internet search user."

Dr. Madhu Nambiar, MD & CEO SRIT said, "One cannot define innovation between boundaries of design and processes. It has equal probability of occurring anywhere and everywhere, key lies in its recognition and application. LMai is a strong case in favour of this argument."

Mr. Joseph N J, Director Marketing & Sales is very confident of LMai's potential in changing the way technology would touch lives. He said, "It is boxed to work with search engines today and it works as a plug in for any given search engine on the internet. However LMai's potential is huge from its near and future applications perspective."

"Very recently, an international media company with significant online presence offered to form a special-purpose-vehicle (SPV) together with us in order to commercialize and monetize this revolutionary algorithm. We would weigh the different options, be it taking it to the market ourselves, partnering with a third party search engine or even selling the algorithm to a deserving party as and when we are presented with the options," added Dr. Nambiar.

WEBCAST OF THE HIGH POWER MEDIA ROUND TABLE HELD IN BANGALORE TODAY WILL BE AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE STARTING 11 MAY 2007, 10:00 AM IST.
