Netvibes Coriander Edition Makes RSS Sexy, Simple and ShareableMarch 20, 2007; 06:02 AM Netvibes, the pioneer of the super-personalized homepage, today announced the official launch of Netvibes Coriander Edition, featuring a new Netvibes Reader with powerful multimedia capabilities. Coriander also introduces instant sharing capabilities, quick start assistants to make it even easier for new users, Netvibes2Go (mobile beta), new Craigslist and Map Search modules, and over 30 more languages to help people further simplify and spice up their digital lives. Recognizing that information on the Internet has moved well beyond the single dimension of plain text headline feeds, Coriander Edition includes a new Netvibes Reader that makes it easy for users to interact with full multimedia content from their favorite blogs and news feeds directly within their Netvibes page—even if they’ve never used RSS before. “Until recently, RSS meant Really Simple Syndication—in other words, it’s functional, but about as exciting as ticker tape,” said Netvibes founder and co-CEO Tariq Krim. “With Netvibes Coriander Edition, we’re transforming RSS into Really Sexy Syndication, complete with games, podcasts, music, photos, videos, and live sharing capabilities.” Coriander Edition also includes integrated sharing features so users can instantly share their feeds, modules and Netvibes pages via email or instant messaging. Users have already shared over 15,000 feeds, modules and tabs on the public Netvibes Ecosystem, and with Coriander, they can now share them privately with family, friends and coworkers as well. Coriander also introduces new search modules and a beta preview of Netvibes' upcoming mobile version, Netvibes2Go (http://m.netvibes.com), which synchronizes live with a user's Netvibes page. For example, with the new Craigslist module, Map Comparison Search module and Netvibes2Go, apartment hunters can receive map directions and updates on their cell phone whenever a two-bedroom, cat friendly apartment opens up in their neighborhood. They can also receive email, weather reports, blogs and more on any mobile web device. "Information overload is a growing problem for Internet users, and Netvibes seeks to solve that with a very useful approach," says Greg Sterling, founding principal of Sterling Market Intelligence. "It combines the utility of search with RSS and structured content feeds that make it more useful than a search engine alone." Feature Highlights:
Netvibes was recently voted the winner of the “Web Leader” category at the LeadAwards last month in Hamburg, Germany, and continues to spread as an international phenomenon, with nearly 10M users worldwide who have helped build modules, localize content and translate Netvibes into over 80 languages.
