Fylmz Festival Announces Films in Running for $100,000! The envelope is torn open on short film finalists and feature film
semi-finalists NASHVILLE,
TN — Following four months of online voting, Fylmz Festival
officials today announced its 20 Feature Film Online Champions and its 40 Short
Film Festival Invitees. The ultimate winners of these categories will win
$100,000 and $3,500 respectively, to be announced at the Fylmz Festival in
Nashville, TN, Feb. 8-10. Each of the 40 short film finalists will be screened at
Nashville’s Belcourt Theatre during the Fylmz Festival, while the 20 Feature
Film semi-finalists now go on to be viewed in their entirety by a judging team
made up of Fylmz member volunteers. Semi-finalists feature films in the Fylmz Festival include
performances by Cheri O’Teri, William Baldwin, Ricki Lake, Vanessa Williams,
Rachel Miner, Jack Noseworthy and Larisa Oleynik. To view a complete list of
the Fylmz Festival semi-finalist films, visit www.Fylmz.com.
Finalist feature films were voted on by members of the
Fylmz.com online community, who winnowed hundreds of submissions down according
to the resonance of a film’s trailer, its apparent spirit, and its technical
values. Feature films were ultimately chosen because the online community
deemed them to have the greatest potential to provide an engaging film
experience, while short films were selected by virtue of their quality and
popularity. Fylmz officials used a multi-pass algorithm to take into
account the quantity and quality of votes logged during Fylmz.com’s online film
selection process, ensuring the results are fair and democratic. The winners of the feature film judging round will be
announced approximately Jan. 25 and will be invited to screen at the 2007 Fylmz
Festival. There, they’ll take the final step in competing for the $100,000
Grand Prize, one of the largest prizes in independent film history. Short films
screened at the festival will vie for a $3,500 Short Film Grand Prize. About
