Hal Leonard Websites to Use New Finale Viewer

December 22, 2006; 08:36 AM
MakeMusic, Inc. (Nasdaq:MMUS) announced today the release of the Finale Viewer™. Licensed exclusively to music publishers, the Finale Viewer supports on-line sales of sheet music, and is an integral part of two new websites launched by Hal Leonard Corporation, the world’s largest music print publisher.

Unveiled at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference, www.bandmusicdirect.com and www.orchestramusicdirect.com give concert band, marching band, jazz ensemble and orchestra directors convenient on-line access-on-demand to the content-rich catalog of Hal Leonard and the publishers it represents in print.

Visitors to the new websites can search by ensemble type, grade level, composer and/or arranger to find the band and orchestra music they want. Thanks to the Finale® technology, they can view and play back the full score and parts. Directors can then purchase scores and parts, customize the instrumentation for their particular groups and print at their convenience. Directors can also purchase adjudication scores and replacement parts on-line.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Hal Leonard to these new sites,” stated Ron Raup, president and COO of MakeMusic, Inc. “Since so much of their content is created with Finale, it makes perfect sense to use Finale technology in their expanding Internet distribution of sheet music. This partnership illustrates how MakeMusic provides the entire solution for publishers. Engraving in Finale means titles are ready for physical distribution, ready for customizable distribution via the Internet and ready for SmartMusic®, the music learning software that guides and motivates students while documenting their individual progress.”

Hal Leonard Vice President of Instrumental Publications, Paul Lavender, adds, “We are very proud to be the first publisher offering this on-line service for band and orchestra directors. These new websites help music educators deliver music into the classroom digitally and on demand. We are delighted that a number of our key educational retailers are participating in the launch of these websites.”
