BoonEx Community Software Experts released the Original Dolphin SVN and
from this day forward webmasters are entitled to take part in the
development of Dolphin in cooperation with its original developers. The
Original Dolphin SVN allows software developers to modify files
simultaneously. It will also track revisions, store a record of all
edits, and perform simultaneous editing. All the script modifications
will be stored in the subversion repository, which BoonEx members can
access.
Subversion means the most up-to-date version of the
code, more updated than the latest software release. With SVN one can
access the SVN repository across networks, which allows it to be used
by people on different computers. At some level, the ability of various
people to modify and manage the same set of data from their respective
locations facilitates collaboration within the community.
With the Original Dolphin SVN version release, BoonEx encourages
community members to actively contribute to the improvement and
development of Dolphin. Working together with webmasters, BoonEx will
act as one of the developers and share its experience gained in the
initial script development.
“We invite everyone to join our community, and take part in Dolphin
development. Dolphin 5.3 – SMART Community Builder under GPL license
was our first step toward making the product absolutely free, both in
terms of price and in terms of rights to use. Original Dolphin SVN now
makes a significant step toward bringing community members together and
involving them with the Dolphin, making it truly Community, dynamically
improving product just like Firefox or Linux”, says BoonEx Ltd. general
director, Andrey Sivtsov.
Now, the Original Dolphin SVN is available for BoonEx members wishing
to work with the script and to modify it to build a one of a kind
community. To check the current version from the global SVN one should
have an SVN client (for example Tortoise SVN or native SVN program).
Moreover, it is possible to browse through an SVN repository across
http, using the current web-browser. To submit modifications to the
global SVN version one should be a member of the BoonEx Club and be
accepted by the Dolphin development team. To be accepted, it's
necessary to send the suggested modifications to the development team,
where these suggested modifications will be tested on readability and
code quality according to the Code Convention. All these procedures are
done to ensure the quality of the Dolphin code and its modifications
and to prevent spamming.
