Answerbag Enables True Social Q&A at Web 2.0 Conference

November 3, 2006; 06:23 AM
Answerbag.com, a leading and independent social knowledge platform, today announced that it will be providing live Q&A for the upcoming Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco next week. Conference attendees as well as interested individuals from anywhere in the world will be able to interact with each other via questions asked during the general session online at http://web2con.com/answerbag.

The annual Web 2.0 Conference assembles a select group of thought leaders and innovators to explore the services, applications, businesses, and models that are reshaping the Internet. At Web 2.0, leaders discuss and debate the most important issues and strategies driving the Internet economy. The questions raised here drive business decisions, so it's great to have a live, social Q&A solution that can extend the audience for this discussion, said John Battelle, program chair for Web 2.0. Answerbag is indicative of the possibilities and benefits of todays web technologies Q&A can be part of anything web destination.

The Web 2.0 Answerbag site will be available on November 3, via the Conference wiki (http://wiki.oreillynet.com/wiki/web2conference2006/) or the Answerbag homepage (www.answerbag.com). Prior to the Conference commencement on November 7, the Web 2.0 Answerbag will have Q&A around logistics, but will also be open for users to begin populating with questions in advance of the event. During the Conference, an Answerbag representative will be in the audience submitting questions in real time as they are asked by John Battelle and fellow moderator, Tim OReilly, to the key speakers. At any time, anyone at the conference or just following the proceedings can respond to these questions, discuss and rank the answers, and ask additional related questions. This is all made possible by the Answerbags customizable Q&A platform for web publishers of all sizes and topics.

Every person having the ability to share what they know to a broad audience that cares is where the true power of Web 2.0 lies, said Richard Rosenblatt, founder and CEO of Demand Media, the new media company which acquired Answerbag earlier this month. Asking questions, sharing answers, exploring knowledge and controlling its quality are exactly what Answerbag makes possible. It is the natural choice for this conference and we appreciate the opportunity to support CMP and OReilly.

The Web 2.0 Conference takes place November 7-9, 2006 in San Francisco. Only the Web 2.0 Conference brings the intelligence, innovation, and leadership of the internet industry together. The conference is produced in partnership with O'Reilly Media, Inc. and CMP Technology, and is moderated by John Battelle, Program Chair, and O'Reilly CEO Tim O'Reilly.
