September 21, 2006; 06:01 AM PC Media, Inc., a Florida-based internet development company, has
released Miraserver version 2.0 Beta. Miraserver is a content
management system designed to allow websites of all sizes to be managed
via a web browser.
“Miraserver is now being released to beta, meaning we and all current
license holders are actively testing the product to make sure it can
stand up to the rigors of a busy website” says David Risley,
Founder/CEO of PC Media, Inc. “We’re going to gather feedback from our
beta testers in order to create a content management system that
delivers on the demands of today’s webmaster.”
PC Media made a name for itself with PC Mechanic (www.pcmech.com),
a site dedicated to today’s personal computers. PC Mechanic, commonly
referred to simply as “PCMech”, currently serves an audience of over
300,000 people per month, with about 1.2 million page views monthly.
Miraserver was originally created in order to power “PCMech”. With it’s
ability to serve webpages, articles, news headlines, FAQs and a blog,
Miraserver is an ideal content management system for a large
content-oriented website like “PCMech”.
Miraserver is built using the PHP language and a MySQL database. It
incorporates a fully customizable template system for full control over
the look and feel of the website. The statistical tracking and content
rating system allows the webmaster to see what visitors want and be
able to deliver on it. The built in comment system gives a sense of
community. It’s ability to integrate with either vBulletin or PHPBB 2.x
means users do not need to create second log-ins. WYSIWYG editing makes
for easy editing even by those not versed in HTML. Miraserver is built
from the ground up by a company that specializes in content publishing.
The Beta program is open to all current license holders of Miraserver.
In order to make the software as easy to get as possible, PC Media is
holding a special where one can purchase a Miraserver license for only
$99. License holders will have access to version 1 of the software as
well as the version 2 beta.
