James Robertson, Cincom Smalltalk product manager, will be presenting at the 14th International Smalltalk Conference held in Prague, Czech Republic on September 4-8, 2006. Robertson's topic for discussion is "Scaling a Smalltalk Web Application Server."

Robertson will guide attendees through the process of building, maintaining, updating and scaling a Smalltalk web application server and show the ancillary areas of the technology being used: XML, RSS and XML-RPC. He will also show the ease of modifying a Smalltalk server in place, without taking it offline, and the transition from single user to multi user -- all without downtime.

In 2002, Robertson implemented a weblog server in Cincom Smalltalk (VisualWorks®) and has been posting to his Smalltalk blog ever since, building a community of dedicated Smalltalk bloggers while building the Smalltalk server.

For 14 years, the European Smalltalk User Group (ESUG) organizes the yearly International Smalltalk Conference; a weeklong live forum on cutting-edge software technologies that attracts people from both academia and industry.
