keyword implementation.
Many companies will not do the research it takes to drive a truly
successful PPC (pay per click) campaign and the few whom actually do
the research may not know the secret to obtaining a cost effective and
profitable PPC campaign.
Here are a few tips on how to ensure a successful pay per click advertising campaign:
Stop guessing at what keywords to use because there are hundreds of
keywords that could be skipped over. Preparation for pay per click
advertising should be treated as seriously as it would be for search
engine optimization. This involves doing an in-depth keyword analysis
using software tools such as WordTracker, Yahoo Keyword Selector Tool,
Web Positon Gold and many others. These software tools are invaluable
to PPC keyword analysis and generation and they will generate a list of
the most popular and searched for keywords on most of the major search
engines.
In order to save money on cost per clicks, then a competitive analysis
should be generated with the keyword list. This is a great way to
narrow down an extensive keywords list to niche, money making keywords!
Here's an example of what’s involved: Type in the keyword "website
promotion" into Google and hit search. Now look on the right hand side
and Google shows something like "Results 1 - 10 of about 228,000,000
for website promotion". The 228,000,000 is the number of web pages that
are relevant to the keyword "website promotion". This is a bad sign,
because the higher the competition number, usually means the higher the
cost per click (CPC). Next, begin to narrow things down and find a more
targeted "niche" keyword by typing in the keyword "web site traffic
promotion" and see what happens. Google displays "Results 1 - 10 of
about 69,400,000 for web site traffic promotion". It's still high, but
much less than before and once the pay per click campaign is launched,
the cost per click will be much lower.
A good PPC management company will allow clients to add up to 100
keywords per ad or more. That may sound like allot, but here's the
secret; allot of niche keywords (instead of a few general keywords) add
up to allot of profit and clicks for the client!
In order to begin implementing a niche keyword ppc ad, start by
associating 50-100 niche keywords to the ad and set them to "exact
matching" (Google Adwords has these matching options). It is important
that the keywords are set to exact or phrase matching or else the niche
keyword phrases will no longer be niche. Using a strong niche keyword
list with the above tips, will result in lower cost per click and a
greater amount of conversions. Exact matching and niche keywords can be
slower to get instant results, impressions and click-throughs but the
power is in the numbers. An ad containing 50-100 niche keywords will
generate as many click-throughs as broad matching keywords or
non-niche, generic keywords and it will save a ton of money! What does
this mean for a company in need of PPC services? It means that the
amount of conversions will increase and ROI (return on investment) will
get better! Isn't that the ultimate goal; save money, get more
conversions and maximize the ROI?
