Breach Security Secures Israel's Largest eCommerce Site; NetVision Selects BreachGate WebDefend for Web Application Security

July 11, 2006; 03:11 AM

Breach Security, a leading provider of next-generation web application security solutions for protecting business-critical data and applications, today announced that NetVision Ltd., Israel's largest ISP, has selected the BreachGate WebDefend appliance to protect and secure Israel's most popular eCommerce site, hosted by NetVision, that markets hundreds of consumer products ranging from furniture to electronics.

NetVision, Israel's first Internet company, offers Internet solutions to organizations, businesses and private users. The company provides hundreds of thousands of customers with a variety of services, products and Internet-based solutions aimed at making users' lives easier and more efficient.

The BreachGate WebDefend application security appliance was selected by NetVision as the only web application security appliance able to provide non-intrusive deployment, ease-of-use, comprehensive security, and lowest total cost of ownership. WebDefend is the only web application firewall that is deployed out-of-line and provides comprehensive blocking protection through integrations with web server platforms and web applications. WebDefend's automated application profiling technology significantly reduces the cost-of-ownership of this technology, allowing security and IT to focus on attacks rather than configuring and maintaining their security tools.

"NetVision manages risks. As the largest operating eCommerce web site in the region we need to reduce the risks of web application vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities, mostly undetected in normal operations, constantly change and require an external solution," said Ariel Pisetzky, Manager Engineering & InfoSec. "In a few days, we were able to deploy WebDefend. If a hacker tries to break into our backend databases through the web application, the attack is blocked before it is executed on the server. After a thorough evaluation of a number of products, NetVision selected BreachGate's WebDefend for its security, rapid deployment, and ease of management."

"WebDefend not only protects Israel's most popular eCommerce site, it also provides NetVision with useful and actionable information from WebDefend-generated events and reports that help them to secure their code," said Marc Shinbrood, president and CEO, Breach Security. "BreachGate WebDefend enables NetVision to discover and repair critical coding errors that may not have been uncovered during initial penetration tests. Our appliance has effectively become a 24/7 penetration testing system for NetVision that monitors actual application usage and exposes application errors between code reviews."

About BreachGate WebDefend

Organizations using only network firewalls and intrusion detection appliances are not adequately protected against new web-based threats. This approach restricts their existing network security at the perimeter.

The BreachGate WebDefend appliance is engineered to protect the next generation of Web applications. BreachGate WebDefend automatically builds and maintains targeted application security that is used to validate all communication with the web application. Traffic that does not match the application's profile is routed through collaborative detection engines that provide the security context for anomalous traffic to determine if a real attack is taking place, and to take appropriate actions.

WebDefend's ExitControl(TM) technology monitors outgoing responses from web applications and employs BreachMarks(TM), or patterns used to detect content-critical data, such as credit cards and social security numbers, from leaving the corporate network. The BreachGate WebDefend appliance is an ideal addition to B2B and B2C Internet security.
