Continuing in its commitment to unify the management of mobility for the enterprise, iPass, Inc. announced that it plans to deliver a version of the iPassConnect™ universal client for Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system. The iPassConnect client is the user interface for the iPass Mobile Office and iPass Virtual Office global connectivity services. The new client software is scheduled to be released in Q2 2007, with a demonstration version planned for availability in March.

iPassConnect for Vista will help make remote and mobile connectivity simple and secure for Vista users as they connect to the Internet and corporate network over multiple access methods such as Wi-Fi, 3G mobile data, fixed broadband and dial-up. iPass services already support a broad array of device platforms, including Windows XP, Mac OS X, Windows Mobile and Symbian OS.

“We are pleased to announce our plans to support Windows Vista, which is likely to be one of the world’s most widely adopted operating systems,” said Moshe Elgressy, vice-president of product management at iPass. “Based on our experience with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, we expect to see gradual enterprise adoption of Windows Vista over the next two to three years. Many of our customers will evaluate the new operating system in the coming months and we intend to stay ahead of their needs and facilitate a smooth migration for their remote and mobile workers.”

Using iPass services, mobile professionals have access to the industry’s broadest variety of connectivity choices—all through one client that provides single sign on to the Internet and corporate VPN combined with security validation and device management capabilities. The iPass global virtual network includes 3G mobile data, 75,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, fixed broadband connections and dial-up networks in more than 160 countries.
