The UAE Web Awards is a first-of-its-kind award dedicated to honour talented web developers and designers in the UAE. The competition was open to all organisations and freelance web designers, web developers and web owners in the UAE. The winners of the UAE Web Awards 2006 will now compete with winners from other Arab countries for the prestigious Pan Arab Web Awards 2007 competition, and will represent the UAE at the event.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Jawad Al Redha, Co-Chairman, BSA said, “It is certainly heartening to note the kind of interest the UAE Web Awards has generated since its launch last year and the fact that the quality of entries received has been of the very highest level, goes to reinforce UAE’s abundance in web designing talent and creativity. What is needed is the right platform for young web designers to showcase their creativity and technical proficiency and this is where the UAE Web Awards play a major role. I congratulate the winners of this year’s awards for displaying truly brilliant work in web design.”

“As part of our efforts to promote a legal and safe digital environment and to encourage the young Arab talents in the field of web design and development, BSA is glad to extend our support to this award. The UAE Web Awards assumes greater significance when we consider the fact that the UAE has the lowest piracy rate in the Middle East region, and we hope that the increasing popularity of this award will further contribute in this regard,” he added.

The UAE Web Awards were instituted with several key objectives such as raising the standards of web design and websites in the country, promoting the spirit of innovation and creativity and equally importantly to increase awareness on intellectual property rights.
