Thycotic Software, a Microsoft Gold certified partner, today announced
the release of Secret Server 2.0. The latest version optimizes the
user’s experience by providing Active Directory integration and a user
audit report, adding even more security and functionality to an already
reliable password storage program.
Secret Server alleviates the user’s concerns about storage and security
of confidential information by allowing customers to store hundreds of
secrets on a U.S. government encrypted database. Transferring secrets
from less secure applications is made simple with Secret Server’s
import secret option. This allows users to copy/paste their vital data
from Microsoft Excel in less than a minute.
“Secret Server was designed out of a need. We realized that many people
needed a service that would store their critical information securely,
instead of relying on USB keys that can be lost or databases that can
be hacked,” says Jonathan Cogley, CEO of Thycotic Software. “The latest
version will make password management easier and more reliable.”
The web-based format allows Secret Server to be used any place that has
access to the internet. Proprietary information can be securely
retrieved from your neighbor’s house or at a business convention in
Japan. Secret Server is also available on many mobile devices and Mac
computers.
Best suited for multiple users, Secret Server makes it possible for
customers to create groups and securely share passwords with anyone
they want within a particular group. Users can also monitor their
secrets to see who has accessed them and how many times.
A significant enhancement made to Secret Server is the “secret type
designer” feature. Instead of choosing from a list of secret type
templates, users can create whatever secret category they want. Typical
categories include: credit card information, passwords, email accounts,
and product license keys.
Convenience was also addressed in this version of Secret Server. Users
can access their secrets while surfing the web. The Web Browser Toolbar
(same security as Secret Server) will communicate with Secret Server
via web services to see if any passwords match the visited website.
Other features include:
• Active Directory integration available
• New look with easier navigation
• Runs over SSL/HTTPS for added security
• Automatically Generates strong passwords
• Full auditing of all user activity
Secret Server 2.0 is available to single-users for free. For
