TheDevShop Ltd. launched dbQwikSite Version
4.2 -- a minor release offering major enhancements for both
business users and professional webmasters.
Its creators said dbQwikSite leads the market as an easy-to-use database web site
generator. Like other code generators, dbQwikSite creates web pages
based on the contents of your database. What makes dbQwikSite different
is it ease of use, full life-cycle management and integrated business
intelligence. Other tools stop at generating “CRUD” - Create, Read,
Update and Delete pages for tables in your database. DbQwikSite goes
much further with version 4.2. Adding functions for e-commerce,
designing and upsizing databases, publishing, and application flow.
dbQwikSite merges the technical database approach of database
publishers with business support often found in 3rd party add-ins, all
in single, economical, integrated package. The tool features e-commerce
support including shopping cart and check out pages. Previous versions
allowed web sites to integrate to PayPal payment processing. This
version expands the options to include other popular payment processing
services including: SecPay, Authorize.net and WorldPay. For ecommerce
sites, this version also adds support for tax calculations, shipping
charges, and inventory management.
For new projects that do not have a database, dbQwikSite 4.2 includes a
host of ways to create new databases and tables. The new database
functions include support for converting PC files like Excel and text
files into databases. A template driven table designer lets you create
new tables based on 45 different business and personal predefined
tables. Mixing and matching fields from different table templates
results in unlimited combinations of table designs. MySQL users can
take advantage of advanced import facilities that can convert MySQL
tables and create a local copy for using with dbQwikSite. New
“upsizing” support covert local databases to MySQL scripts for users
that need to create MySQL databases on their host.
There are hosts on new features to help make using this program a snap.
Most notably is the addition of several wizards that walk the user
though several common steps. Included are wizards to: create new
projects, add security to web pages, add ecommerce functions to a site
and manage database tables. Many dialogs that were previously
accessible using the site explorer, now are also available by clicking
page design preview making working with page visual appearance much
more intuitive.
