FileMaker, Inc. released Filemaker Pro version 8.5 -- a popular database application for both Windows and Mac. Significant features have been
added in this upgrade, including the FileMaker Web Viewer, which allows
the addition of a live Web page within a record. The new version also
includes object functions and scripts, which offer more control over
functions, as well as support for Intel-based Macs. All of the new features will be addressed by lynda.com's training sessions.

“FileMaker 8.5 breaks new ground with its Web Viewer, which allows the
database to display a live Web page in a designated field. Chris
Ippolite helps bring this new feature set to life, explaining not only
how to use it, but what possibilities exist for a new breed of database
design projects,” says Lynda Weinman, CEO of lynda.com.
FileMaker Pro 8.5 received 4.5 mice from Macworld magazine, which says
the application’s many new features are of benefit to users. CNET also
gave FileMaker 8.5 kudos, stating that the new features “broaden the
scope of (FileMaker’s) abilities.”
