“Reaching the 200,000 downloads milestone clearly illustrates the Open
Source community’s continuing interest in KnowledgeTree. The community
growing around the project is vibrant and exciting, with many of these
Open Source downloaders contributing both code and extensions to the
project,” says Daniel Chalef of KnowledgeTree developers Jam Warehouse.
The KnowledgeTree Open Source project boasts significant community
participation, with the project’s own development “forge”, a community
management and hosting system, providing a home for over 30
community-driven projects. These projects range from language packs to
feature extensions to the core document management system.
KnowledgeTree, built on the popular open source LAMP (Apache/MySQL/PHP)
stack, has been downloaded more than 200,000 times to date. It is being
used by Fortune 500 companies, community organizations, local and state
governments and educational and scientific institutions around the
world.
The application is also available in a commercially supported version,
KnowledgeTree Professional, that offers additional functionality
including a WebDAV Integration Server and Client Tools for Windows,
providing a familiar Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office interface
into the document repository and direct-to-repository scanning
capability.
