MobileVoiceControl Inc., a mobile speech application developer, announced the availability of VoiceControl, a subscription-based system that is driven entirely by natural voice commands. The product allows consumers to easily search for Web content, or perform dialing, email and calendar functions by simply "asking" their phone for the information.

VoiceControl is available exclusively on Sprint phones, including BlackBerry handsets, Treo smart phones, and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. "VoiceControl enables consumers to control their wireless phones with intuitive, natural speech commands," said Steve Burns, president of MobileVoiceControl. "Quite simply, this innovation enables everyone to fully tap the rich resources that exist in today's modern wireless phones."

VoiceControl answers a growing thirst for mobile information anywhere, anytime, as industry analysts project the U.S. market size for mobile search at more than $8 billion in 2008. Bringing accurate speech recognition to the mobile environment opens up the wide spectrum of mobile Web content to consumers by eliminating the need to search the Web via their phone's keypad. Using intuitive voice commands, a Sprint customer can find sports scores, movie times, business listings, weather and more. The system does not require any voice training, so most users are up and running within minutes.

Sample voice commands can be "Find business, Overnight Shipping, near Jacksonville, Fla.," or "Email Karen Smith. Subject: budget meeting. Body: The time has been changed to 2 p.m."
