Chinese Online Population Now 123 Million: Study

An official Chinese internet agency has announced that the number of Chinese online has risen by 20% since last year to reach 123 million.  The number of connected citizens in China is second only to the U.S.A, where more than 200 million people have regular access to the internet.

Two-thirds of connected Chinese, or 77 million, have access to broadband Internet.  Broadband adoption has increased by 40% in a single year. The average Chinese internet user spends 16.5 hours per week online.

The figures for Chinese internet presence were announced by the China Internet Network Information Center in their annual report.
