SaveToby.com, the infamous web site about a bunny who was threatened with death if a certain amount of money wasn't raised, has been purchased through the SitePoint Marketplace.

Toby is (reportedly) safe!
Before selling the site, its anonymous creators earned an income in excess of $50,000 USD over a period of 16 months. An additional $160,000 worth of books about Toby were sold during a four-month period at the end of 2005.

"I was appalled earlier this year when I first heard about the SaveToby.com web site, where the owner threatened to kill and eat a cute little bunny rabbit if he did not get $50,000 in donations from visitors to his site," said Eric Borgos, the new owner of the SaveToby.com.

"So, when I saw the SaveToby.com web site was for sale at sitepoint.com, where I'm a frequent buyer of sites, I jumped at the opportunity to snap it up and save Toby."

"I'm happy to report that Toby is now being taken care of by a very loving 22 year-old girl, and is no danger of being eaten. SaveToby.com is no longer accepting donations, but you can check it out to see photos of Toby and other updates," noted Eric.

"We're delighted that Toby finally found a safe home through the SitePoint Marketplace," remarked Mark Harbottle, CEO and Co-founder of SitePoint. "You couldn't have asked for a better ending to this story."
