WildPackets Inc. announced it is offering a free Google Map Plug-in that integrates with the company's OmniPeek Analyzer and shows the geographic location of Internet nodes communicating with local nodes such as Web, email, and application servers. Network engineers can use the plug-in to see at a glance where the active Internet nodes are located. Web site administrators can use the plug-in to determine where Web site visitors are coming from.

Unlike other commercial network analysis products, the WildPackets OmniAnalysis Platform features open APIs and an SDK. WildPackets customers can write their own extensions to the OmniPeek Analyzer and to OmniEngines, which can be deployed at remote locations across the network to analyze network traffic in real time.

"With our open APIs and SDK, we're putting the power of creativity into the hands of users," said Mahboud Zabetian, WildPackets' President and Founder. "We've created a solution that lets customers tailor our platform to suit their exact needs. In addition, they can take advantage of the growing number of plug-ins and other extensions being created by other customers and by our own engineers. The Google Map Plug-in, which runs on our OmniPeek Analyzer, is just one example of what's possible when talented network engineers build on the OmniAnalysis Platform."

The Google Map Plug-in is free to all users of OmniPeek. Users can download the plug-in from the WildPackets' Developer Network Web site, wpdn.wildpackets.com.

Other available plug-ins include:

-- A SQLFilter plug-in that enables users to submit SQL queries to locate key data in packet captures

-- A TCPDump Adapter that enables administrators to securely capture and analyze traffic from Linux and Unix nodes running the industry standard tcpdump utility.
