Provider of instant messaging and presence solutions Followap announced that it has been selected by mobile media company 3 to power its instant messaging service to more than 3.5 million UK customers.

Followap will provide 3 with end-to-end support for 3’s Microsoft MSN service using the iFollow MMG (mobile messaging gateway), as well as an array of pre-loaded and downloadable clients for 3G mobile phones.

Simon Brown, Vice President Sales and Customer Services at Followap comments: “We are happy to have been selected by 3 to support IM services to its customers. We are seeing more and more mobile instant messaging services, creating a world-wide real-time communications environment for mobile users. We will work together with 3 to offer its customers the best IM services enabling 3 to be a dominant player in this era of presence-aware communications.”

Graeme Oxby, 3’s Marketing Director commented: “We believe our 3.5 million customers in the UK will be delighted to be able to use MSN Messenger over mobile. With 3G mobiles becoming the primary device for all communications, whether that’s a voice call, an instant message or an email, it’s our job to offer customers choice in the way they communicate. We selected Followap for its mature and scalable technology, its market expertise, and its track record in delivering IM services to top-tier operators.”
