Continuent Announces Sequoia 2.10.10 - Open Source Database Clustering Middleware

December 11, 2007; 07:16 AM

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) December 11, 2007 -- Continuent, Inc., the leading provider of commercial open source middleware solutions for database high-availability and scalability, today announced new version open source database clustering solution, Sequoia.

"Continuent is proud to announce Sequoia 2.10.10 open source database clustering middleware. Sequoia clusters raise application availability and throughput by maintaining multiple copies of databases spread over different hosts. Sequoia automatically handles failover when databases crash or go out of service. It also automatically load balances reads across the multiple database copies. Sequoia works with any database that has a JDBC driver," says Robert Hodges, CTO at Continuent.

The Sequoia 2.10.10 release raises performance and scalability, and improves the efficiency of long-running cluster processes. Sequoia 2.10.10 can handle SQL reads requests that return tens of millions of rows. The database recovery log has been improved to speed recovery of databases that process millions of transactions per day.

Sequoia is the basis of Continuent's commercial uni/cluster database clustering product. Continuent uni/cluster adds extended SQL parsing, group communications, and management features to provide enterprise-quality clustering for MySQL® and PostgreSQL. Continuent actively extends Sequoia as part of development and maintenance of the uni/cluster product.
