More Than 500,000 People Use iLike Social Music Discovery Service

iLike, the four-month-old social music discovery service that lets consumers get personalized recommendations and follow what their friends are listening to, announced today they have surpassed 500,000 registered users. The company also announced new features including:

  • Music "Wishlists" iLike offers users the option to "save" any song to an online "wishlist" where users can later listen to or buy the songs. iLike users are active music lovers who engage seriously in music discovery more than 50 percent of user logins result in either a click to "buy" or "save to wishlist."
  • Instant Playlist Sharing iLikes popular Sidebar for iTunes now allows users to automatically share their playlists online. Friends who visit each others public profiles can now browse one anothers music libraries, sample their playlists, and buy (or save to wishlist) the songs they dont have.
  • Windows Media Support iLike has released a limited version of its client software for Windows Media Player.

iLike members can download the free iLike Sidebar for iTunes to connect their music library to a broader community of music. The sidebar analyzes the music you are listening to and recommends music that you may like from both signed and unsigned artists. You can also download free MP3s directly from the Sidebar or click to buy music from the iTunes Music Store. iLike has also released a limited preview version of the software for Windows Media users.

Additional iLike features focused on music discovery and community include:

  • A MySpace widget that shows and plays your favorite music
  • A real time display of music you are currently listening to
  • Music recommendations with 30 second clips
  • Music videos from YouTube, playing directly on your iLike profile page
