NewBay Software, the leading provider of mobile multimedia and social networking solutions, today launched a new mobile video server which gives mobile operators enhanced features and functionality to support user generated mobile video content. The mobile video server offers carrier grade performance and supports all common types of web and mobile video uploads, downloads and viewing. The server is available as a standalone system or as an enhancement to NewBays complete portfolio of products and services.

Mobile video is becoming an increasingly important component of user generated content. NewBays live mobile operator services currently process in excess of 1 million messages a day with the percentage of video uploads doubling over the past 6 months.

Our operator customers are experiencing very rapid growth in uploads of video from mobile devices. We have anticipated this trend and are pleased to offer the mobile video server to better process, convert and play these videos while also providing subscribers with an enhanced mobile and web experience. said David Manzor, Product Manager at NewBay Software.

NewBays mobile video server allows users to upload videos in any format to their blog or album direct from the mobile handset (MMS, email, http, PIXOTA client) or via the web. The module automatically transcodes the video into the best format suited for viewing via the web or on the mobile device. NewBays default settings are .flv (flash video) to display video via web and .3gp format for viewing using a mobile handset's default video player. Users also have the option to download video to a range of portable devices such as the iPod or PSP.

NewBay will be demonstrating its new mobile video server on Stand 1F17 in Hall 1 at 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, 12 to 15 February.
