(ISC)2 (“ISC-squared”), the non-profit global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers, today announced the release and immediate availability of its “2007 Resource Guide for Today’s Information Security Professional, Global Edition” at the 2007 RSA Conference in San Francisco, Calif.

In its fourth year of publication, this “must-have” reference tool for industry personnel has been expanded yet again to provide information security professionals with further career enhancement resources and professional opportunities from around the world. In addition to resource listings currently in the global guide, the 2007 version now includes listings from Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Macau and Tunisia.

“As sophisticated threats to enterprises continue to rise throughout the world, the skills and knowledge of security professionals has become a key element in an organization’s overall risk management strategy,” said Howard A. Schmidt, an information security industry veteran and former cyber-security advisor to the White House. “The (ISC)2 Resource Guide is a comprehensive source for knowledge, training and professional networking for the international security community and plays a major role in keeping security professionals worldwide up-to-date on the most current industry best practices.”

The free 126-page guide — which can be obtained in hard copy as a spiral-bound, pocket-sized booklet, or in electronic format as a CD or online PDF download — is the information security industry’s only comprehensive almanac, providing technical personnel and executives with one-stop access to a large compilation of information security-focused professional associations, conferences and trade shows, Websites, online and print publications and educational institutions and organizations in North, Central and South America and the Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific regions.

The 2006 edition of the global guide proved vastly popular with information security professionals, who downloaded close to 200,000 copies from the (ISC)2 Website in the months following its release. Around the world, tens of thousands of additional hard copies were distributed to (ISC)2 members and attendees at trade shows and conferences held throughout the year and through direct request.

“With each passing year, the (ISC)2 Resource Guide becomes more useful and more valuable, with greater anticipation of its release by the global information security community,” said Ed Zeitler, CISSP, executive director of (ISC)2. “Demand for the guide has been significant; it remains the No. 1 download on our Website. Industry professionals around the world tell us that they carry it with them and reference it regularly.”

Several major industry players co-sponsored the 2007 Resource Guide, including Microsoft, Deloitte, Computer Associates, the University of Maryland, VCampus and more.

Information security professionals attending the 2007 RSA Conference can obtain a hard copy or CD version of the 2007 Resource Guide at various locations throughout the conference, including the (ISC)2 booth. More than 40,000 additional hard copy and CD guides are being delivered for distribution at the industry’s top events in the U.S., Europe, Middle East and Asia, including Reed’s international InfoSecurity conferences, RSA Conferences, Computer Security Institute’s 34th Annual Computer Security Conference & Expo, MIS Training Institute’s InfoSec World Conference & Expo, Government Security Expo and Conference (GOVSEC) and others.

Attendees to the (ISC)2 CBK Review Seminars will also receive a free copy, as will members of different information security associations. An electronic version can be obtained via download from (ISC)2 and several other security-related organization Websites, the (ISC)2 member newsletter and select TechTarget electronic publications.
