Amedia Networks, Inc., a provider of next generation media gateways to distribute and manage ultra-broadband triple-play services in the home, today announced that it will showcase its Broadband Entertainment Center, an all-in-one gateway, home networking appliance, and personal media library, at the 2007 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Booth #26731 in South Hall 2, running Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas, NV.

The Amedia Broadband Entertainment Center is designed to replace the computer as the media hub and central point of networking within the connected home. It will allow users to store, organize, and search all types of multimedia content - from movies, to home videos, to music, to games - within a personal media library right on their residential gateway, and then play that content on virtually any television, monitor, or networked device.

A recent Parks Associates study, Digital Living 2006 Forecasts, cites the growth in U.S. spending on digital living products and services, fueled by rapid consumer adoption of broadband and mobile communications, to reach nearly $300 billion by 2010. By this time, the study also predicts more than 30 million households will have a network that bridges numerous products and extends the entertainment experience to multiple rooms in the home.

While the steadily increasing consumer demand for ultra-broadband entertainment services such as IPTV, on-demand video, online gaming, and digital music is providing new revenue opportunities for carriers, it is also driving the need for more sophisticated yet easy-to-use in-home media distribution, said Frank Galuppo, President, CEO, and Director of Amedia Networks. The Broadband Entertainment Center is ushering in a new trend, consolidating the home network into a single appliance, and allowing subscribers to more easily and comfortably enjoy their home media experience without compromising quality.

In addition to offering a home media portal, the Amedia Broadband Entertainment Center also streamlines home networks, combining the collective functionality of a modem, router, wireless access point, VoIP adapter, and more within a lone, compact device. More unique features include wireless HDTV transmission via Ultrawideband (UWB) to various home entertainment and media devices throughout the home, as well as a Quality-of-Service (QoS) console, allowing subscribers to prioritize their entertainment and communications services to avoid disruption of quality or speed.

Carriers can also utilize the Broadband Entertainment Centers built-in software operating system to allow subscribers to surf the Web on their televisions, from the comfort of their couches. Service providers can also access previously untapped revenue streams by delivering proprietary or third-party software programs and networking capabilities to subscribers, such as in-home messaging, remote home monitoring, a virtual family calendar, personalized family firewall, and much more.
