Iusacell announced its new i-Web service, an Internet browsing experience that is visually rich, optimized for speed, and delivers the World Wide Web on mobile handsets. Iusacell's customers can now use their mobile phone to check personal email, blog, shop online and visit their favorite Web sites for news, sports, hobbies and more. The i-Web service, using Novarra's nWeb micro-browser built for QUALCOMM's BREW solution, will be embedded in Iusacell's CDMA200 1xEV-DO handsets allowing users to trial the browsing experience for a designated length of time. Following the trial period, users will be able to buy and download the full application from Iusacell's BREW catalog. Novarra showcased its products at booth #33 at the BREW 2006 Conference, held May 31 - June 2 in San Diego.

i-Web is one of Iusacell's 3G-Evolution services benefiting from the capabilities of a high-speed EV-DO network, with data transfer averages of 500 kbps. Users also have access to a wide range of cutting edge services and mobile applications like real-time TV (IusaTV), location-based services (Ubicacel), real-time video monitoring (Iusacam) and 3D games.

Thus far, the mobile Internet browsing experience has been based on WAP technology which offers very little Spanish language content or visual richness. With i-Web, mobile users can get to any Web format content on millions of sites with Novarra's nWeb BREW browser, automatically optimizing Web pages regardless of the handset's memory or the size of the display.

"Novarra made it easy for us to quickly launch an Internet service on our EV-DO BREW handsets with a breadth of local content for our market," according to Gustavo Guevara, director of business development for Iusacell. "We believe i-Web has broad appeal across our customer base and will significantly increase our data ARPU and customer satisfaction."

"The potential for growth in the wireless data market is huge, and QUALCOMM is excited about applications that users can leverage to receive the full benefits of EV-DO technology," said Flavio Mansi, QUALCOMM vice president of business development for Mexico and Central America. "By using the flexibility of BREW to enable advanced services such as Novarra's nWeb micro-browser and the i-Web service, Iusacell is clearly demonstrating its commitment to offering a valuable experience to its customers."

"Our nWeb version 7.0 for BREW on the LG MX510 over Iusacell's EV-DO network sets a new standard for mobile Internet user experience and network optimization," according to Scott Cotter, senior director of marketing for Novarra. "We are pleased to manage the turnkey solution for Iusacell, the mobile network technology leader in Mexico."

The BREW solution drives the discovery and delivery of data services. BREW subscribers benefit from several offerings, which include: uiOne for rich, integrated and dynamic user experiences with fast access to high revenue services on wireless devices; deliveryOne for differentiated and tightly integrated, operator-managed support and delivery of advanced wireless data content and services; and marketOne for a quick-to-market, hosted, scalable content delivery service that includes media titles, flexible management and monetization, content provider settlement and business intelligence services. QUALCOMM offers this comprehensive set of BREW offerings to meet the needs of companies delivering mobile products and services around the world.
