Adobe Labs released the next version of Lightroom for the Mac. The beta 3 release includes support for several new raw camera foramts, and many new features and enhancements.

Project: Lightroom is Adobe’s effort to engage the professional digital photography community in a new way, giving you them the opportunity to shape the feature set of a new specialized tool, catering to their needs.

The latest version introduces features suggested so far during the beta testing process, including better control over export size and resolution, refined metadata selection with print output and RGB value readouts for greater editing precision. It also offers support for over 120 Raw image formats.

Additional enhancements in the Develop module include Before and After preview tools and History features to track changes. A new web module offers in-application Flash and HTML output. There’s an automatic import facility, better handling of Photoshop and TIFF files, resolution control in the Export module, a new Straighten tool to fix camera angles, Keyword import and export, and the ability to save module settings with collections or shoots.

The beta expires on 30 January 2007 and is available as a Universal binary for Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later. A beta of the Windows version is not yet available, but is expected later this year.
