In web design, the hardest thing to execute a good lay out. Amateur web designers go frantic on how to go about it.

A good web design attracts, informs, entertains and captures search engines. But how do you make this happen? There are several secrets in web design and we have to unfold them one by one to reveal a delectable website.

1. Never center everything. The secret is doing to create a distinct perspective but not centering everything. To do the contrary will just make the page disorganized, strewn and drab. The alignment may also appear weak and defective.

2. Master contrast. Contrast is the difference in visual properties that emphasizes an object. It makes the object distinguishable from the background as well as other objects. The use and mastery of it in value, color, size and weight will greatly affect the site’s appearance and edge. In fact, a typeface may appear bigger with the use of contrast in color. Contrast can also affect organization of the page. At a glance, a page may appear organized or the exact opposite. That is the secret of contrast.

3. Apply deviations if necessary. The blatant practice these days is to develop a ‘uniform-pages’ impression. Designers try to use same background colors and other peculiarities to establish similarities to the homepage or other pages. But the fact is that viewers can be easily bored with that system. Viewers always want something fresh and by giving them a repetitious work, they can be bored with your website and transfer to another where they can feast both their eyes and mind.

Using lines in between contents connotes division. Instead of using these lines, use blank ‘buffer zones’. This way what are created are invisible lines to make the effect subtle.

4. Functionality is the topmost priority. Moreover, keep the content and information full, tight and pretty useful. Use the space, don’t waste it. Nonetheless, use white space to give the eyes the opportunity to rest in between reading. Use the space expertly in order for the website not to look crowded at the same time loose. Multiple columns are also advisable in order to maximize space.

Now that the secrets are already unraveled, you can now sit and enjoy doing layout to your heart’s content.
