Web-based Instant Messaging (IM) provider meebo announced it has extended its IM communications platform beyond
meebo.com and into any web page. meebo is a web-based instant messaging
provider that allows users to access all of their IM buddies from any
computer with a web browser. The company's new widget, meebo me,
easily integrates the meebo instant messaging platform into numerous
types of websites: social networking sites, blogs, commerce sites and
more. The new meebo me widget has two main features -- it enables
site-owners to privately chat with anyone visiting their website; and
it offers real-time presence information for site-owners to see
visitors to their page. meebo me is the first IM service to enable
individuals to deeply embed IM everywhere throughout the web as well as
enabling real-time web presence information to site owners. The meebo
me widget has also been selected by WordPress.com to be bundled for
their users. WordPress.com is a rapidly growing blogging service and
meebo me enables WordPress users to integrate IM into their blogs with
a single click. The company also released user statistics today. meebo
has more than 700,000 daily logins, sends 45 million messages daily and
has more than 2.5 million unique monthly visitors. "Everything
has moved to the web -- from commerce to productivity tools, to
community -- all are done via a web browser. meebo is doing the same
for IM," said Seth Sternberg, CEO and co-founder of meebo Inc. "With
meebo me we are offering exciting new ways to connect with family,
friends and customers."
